New PA Poll: Obama within 6%

Hillary Rodham Clinton, 49 percent

Barack Obama, 43 percent

_

OF INTEREST:

This primary is not until April 22, but it is yet another measurement of Obama's momentum. Just two weeks ago in Pennsylvania, Clinton led in this survey by 52 percent to 36 percent. During that time, voters under age 45 have gone from favoring Clinton by 11 percentage points to preferring Obama by 17 points. She leads among women, whites, older voters and those without college degrees; Obama leads among men, blacks and college graduates. A quarter of each candidate's supporters say they might change their minds about whom to back.

_

The Quinnipiac University poll was conducted by telephone from Feb. 21-25. It involved interviews with 506 likely Democratic voters in Pennsylvania and has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.

Hillary will not stay till PA. Losing PA will be too embarrassing for her.

Andrea Mitchell said on Hardball last night Ed Rendell will sit Hillary down if she does not pull out after March 4th to explain to her that he can't hold down PA for her.

Re: New PA Poll: Obama within 6% (2.00 / 2)

This sort of thing will open the floodgates of superdelegate endorsements for Obama.  Even if Clinton were to win TX and OH narrowly, what would be point of waiting until PA?  Obama would be splitting the delegates from Tuesday, then gaining more in the next round in MS and WY and the poll suggests that then he'd at least tie in PA.

Re: New PA Poll: Obama within 6% (2.00 / 2)

The only delegate contests between March 4 and PA are Wyoming and Mississippi, where Obama should roll over Clinton. She probably won't even bother to campaign in either place, which means he'll roll up big margins and get the best press that will be available those six weeks.
